| - Offend In Every Way This weekend was great.
Friday morning I got up at 6 and showered. Got everything gathered together. Picked Josh up around 7:30ish. We went to 5 different parks (4 in door county, 1 near green bay). Then we camped out overnight at Peninsula State Park (the last of our trip).
Stop number 1: Bayshore County Park. Really not much to see/do there. We walked along a trail with giant cliffs on one side of us and then headed down by the shore. It was nice because it was humid but it was kind of cool so we weren't extremely hot, plus it was sort of early in the morning.
Stop number 2: Potawatomi State Park. It was better than Bayshore, but once again not really much to do there. We went to this overlook thing, and I got some pretty cool pictures. Then we hiked along a trail to a lookout tower. The view from atop the tower was so amazing. I got some more really good pictures, and they were nice because it was hazy so they look pretty cool. Then we went near this part of the shore and it had a playground so I swung on the swings. Then we walked along shore a little bit and left.
Stop number 3: Whitefish Dunes/Cavepoint. Whitefish Dunes was SO smelly. Dead fish are so nasty. We didn't even go near the beach and we could smell it like crazy. We hiked through the forest and eventually ended up at an "overlook platform." From the platform you didn't really see much. But we did see a really cool looking snake on the way up to the platform.
Cavepoint was so cool. If you've never been there, it's like the shore is solid rock and in some places it sticks up out of the water. Josh and I went out as far as we could without our shoes getting wet and we tried to keep going farther down shore. It was really fun, and our favourite stop of the trip. So pretty!
Stop number 4: Newport State Park. Probably the worst stop of them all. We decided to hike the shortest trail, a 2 mile loop. It took us forever and we were hot and crabby and covered in spider webs. We both just wanted to get out of the woods and back on the road to our final stop. I did however get a kind of cool picture of 2 snails on a rock. It sounds dull, but you'd have to see it. After we finally finished the trail we went on the beach for a little bit and then left. We weren't really there for that long, not counting the amount of time the trail took.
Stop number 5: Peninsula State Park. I really liked Peninsula. It seemed like there was a ton to do there, however we didn't do that much. We got there around 5ish. We found our campsite and set up the tent. Then I went to get some fire wood and ice to put in our coolers. When I got back we started the fire and ate some hot dogs and cracked a bunch of weiner jokes. :) It was a good time. Our site had electricity so we plugged in my stereo and listened to music while sitting by the fire. I got sap on my fingers and I was PISSED. Haha I could not get it off no matter how much I washed them but somehow it eventually came off. Josh gave me the idea to burn it off, yeah that didn't work. Anyways, after awhile we gave up on our fire (it was kind of a shitty fire) and we listened to Kid A and looked at the stars. Called it a night pretty early, around 10 or 11. Then the next morning I took a shower while Josh got a fire started. He attempted to make breakfast, and it probably would've worked really well if we would've had some prior camping experience haha. Then we went to the beach at our campground and then we went to another look out tower. And then we came home but made a stop at a mini golf course. And he beat me. Again.
Yup that's pretty much the extent of our trip. I had a ton of fun though and I want to go again next week. I don't know if I will or not though.
Also, I've been making a lot of good realizations lately. They make me happy and hopefully I'll stay this way for awhile.
